Turkey and Treasures!

Sorry about the delay in updates...we've been under the weather here!  Below is some of the small items added this week...I'll post the new big stuff in the next couple days!

set of jr classics from 1918...these 93 year-old jewel-tone volumes look fresh and new because they've been in their original dust jackets (included).  Color front illustrations, one by Maxfield Parrish.  Adventure stories chockful of heroes, princesses, giants and monsters, fairies, wizards and witches, mythical beasts,...

This lovely lady gracefully holds up a frosted flower glass shade.

a wood plane and a brass spring scale.

detail of the scale engraving...

Here are the marks I found on the wood plane, which belonged to a man named Jack A. Beyer.
The end is stamped with "JAB" and "J A Beyer", and the name "Jack" was found inscribed on the back of the blade wedge!  Buck Brothers company was started in 1853.  Jack's plane looks like its from the late 19thc.

This uncomfortable looking implement is a wool comb, used to make worsted and blended yarns.  This old gal has some dents and dings, but she has all her teeth and a great shape :)
The tines are early cut nails with wrought heads, dating this tool to the late 18th to early 19th century!

This tin cash box has really sharp and intricate tole painting all around the top.  The construction of this gold and brown box suggests its from the 19th century.

Cocktails, anyone?  A duck themed tray and linen towel, and a etched glass ice bucket.

Stay tuned for some big pieces!
